V. Subramanian worked as the Collector of Customs in Tuticorin

One story concerning him, told in family legend was that his elder brother, Ramachandran (at that time, 12 years old) was so fond of him that when there was talk of giving up Subramanian for adoption, both of them ran away from home. They were found in Tirukattupalli after 2 days.
